What is a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA)?

A CGA is a thorough assessment by a consultant geriatrician of an older person. We consider a person's life story, health needs, current function and preferences in our consultation. We work with GPs and make recommendations to optimise the health, function and quality of life of older people.

How to arrange a CGA

Aria Health geriatricians visit older people at their residential care home. To organise an assessment, please ask your GP to send a referral to 03 9086 4168

CGAs for people living in residential care are bulk-billed. 

Aria Health geriatricians assess older people in outpatient clinic suites.
Dr Sanka Amadoru and Dr Jo Mitropoulos work in Viewbank fortnightly.
Dr Christine Mandrawa works in Ivanhoe monthly.
Dr Jesse Zanker works in Echuca, Moama, Gisborne, Daylesford, Trentham and Woodend.

There may be a small out of pocket fee for assessments at consulting rooms which our reception staff will discuss with you.
