What is a Geriatrician?

A geriatrician is a specialist medical doctor who has expertise in the health and care needs of older people. A geriatrician undertakes a consultation called a "Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment” (CGA). We offer holistic and compassionate consultations for older people in clinics and residential care facilities in parts of Melbourne and rural Victoria.

What is a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA)?

A CGA is a thorough assessment by a consultant geriatrician of an older person. We consider a person's life story, health needs, current function and preferences in our consultation. We work with GPs and make recommendations to optimise the health, function and quality of life of older people.

How to arrange a CGA

Aria Health has clinics in Heidelberg, Malvern, Gisborne, New Gisborne, Broadford and Echuca. We visit residential care locations across Melbourne and rural Victoria.

Standard initial and review assessments for people living in residential care are bulk-billed (no out of pocket cost to the patient).
