What is a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA)?
A CGA is a thorough assessment of an older person by a consultant geriatrician. We spend at least an hour with our patients to understand each person's life story, health needs, current functional ability, and their preferences during our consultations. We work with patients, families, carers, and GPs to optimise the health, function, and quality of life of
older people.
How do I arrange a consultation?
Residential care: We visit residential care locations across Melbourne and certain areas of rural Victoria. Please ask your GP to send a referral to us.
Clinics: To organise an appointment, please ask your GP to send a referral to us, or phone our lovely admin team on 03 9069 9308 to find out more.
Aria Health has clinics at:

478 Kooyong Road, Caulfield South

What is a Geriatrician?
A geriatrician is a specialist medical doctor who has expertise in the health and care needs of older people. Older people see a geriatrician for a holistic consultation called a "Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment” (CGA). The geriatrician provides an expert opinion to the patient and the patient’s GP about diagnosis and recommended treatment plans to help optimise an older person’s health and quality of life.
